Bible Verses on Forgiveness

(Acts 2:38) 38 But Peter said to them: Do penance: and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins. And you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

(Colossians 3:13) 13 Bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if any have a complaint against another. Even as the Lord has forgiven you, so do you also.

(Ephesians 4:32) 32 And be kind one to another: merciful, forgiving one another, even as God has forgiven you in Christ.

(I John 1:9) 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all iniquity.

(I Peter 3:9) 9 Not rendering evil for evil, nor railing for railing, but contrariwise, blessing: for unto this are you called, that you may inherit a blessing.

(James 5:16) 16 Confess therefore your sins one to another: and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man avails much.

(Luke 17:4) 4 And if he sin against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day be converted unto you, saying: I repent: forgive him.

(Luke 23:34) 34 And Jesus said: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. But they, dividing his garments, cast lots.

(Luke 6:27-37) 27 But I say to you that hear: Love your enemies. Do good to them that hate you. 28 Bless them that curse you and pray for them that calumniate you. 29 And to him that strikes you on the one cheek, offer also the other. And him that takes away from you your cloak, forbid not to take your coat also. 30 Give to every one that asks you: and of him that takes away your goods, ask them not again. 31 And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them in like manner. 32 And if you love them that love you, what thanks are to you? For sinners also love those that love them. 33 And if you do good to them who do good to you, what thanks are to you? For sinners also do this. 34 And if you lend to them of whom you hope to receive, what thanks are to you? For sinners also lend to sinners, for to receive as much. 35 But love your enemies: do good, and lend, hoping for nothing thereby: and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the sons of the Highest. For he is kind to the unthankful and to the evil. 36 Be therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. 37 Judge not: and you shall not be judged. Condemn not: and you shall not be condemned. Forgive: and you shall be forgiven.

(Mark 11:25-26) 25 And when you shall stand to pray, forgive, if you have aught against any man: that your Father also, who is in heaven, may forgive you your sins. 26 But if you will not forgive, neither will your father that is in heaven forgive you your sins.

(Matthew 18:21-22) 21 Then came Peter unto him and said: Lord, how often shall my brother offend against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times? 22 Jesus said to him: I say not to you, till seven times; but till seventy times seven times.

(Matthew 26:28) 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many unto remission of sins.

(Matthew 5:39-42) 39 But I say to you not to resist evil: but if one strike you on your right cheek, turn to him also the other: 40 And if a man will contend with you in judgment, and take away your coat, let go your cloak also unto him. 41 And whosoever will force you one mile, go with him other two. 42 Give to him that asks of you, and from him that would borrow of you turn not away.

(Romans 12:14) 14 Bless them that persecute you: bless, and curse not.

(Romans 12:19-21) 19 Revenge not yourselves, my dearly beloved; but give place unto wrath, for it is written: Revenge is mine, I will repay, says the Lord. 20 But if the enemy be hungry, give him to eat; if he thirst, give him to drink. For, doing this, you shall heap coals of fire upon his head. 21 Be not overcome by evil: but overcome evil by good.
